Why Choose a Canine Therapies Course?

This course at Canine Therapies differs from those offered by other hydrotherapy centres in that some of the theoretical learning is done in your own home, thus reducing time away from work, and the cost of travel and accommodation. The format of this course has been carefully designed to benefit different learning styles and has the advantage of the practical elements of the course being presented in a real work environment, providing individual tuition and assessment for every module studied to ensure complete understanding and knowledge of each learning outcome. This is known as “blended learning”. Another positive aspect to give our students good value for money is that all additional days of tutored practical work is included in the cost of the course; this is a requirement for membership of CHA or NARCH, the professional associations for the industry. There is a charge for students who have qualified from other training centres undertaking these additional days.

The most effective learning style for most people is hands-on, with positive teaching methods throughout the experience, which is in a normal working environment, hence the reason that students at Canine Therapies gain much more than from other similar courses. It is likely that only 2 students attend the practical days at any one time, to maximise the support and training each can receive, although there may be occasional overlaps of students, depending on demand.

ABC would like to reassure those within the Hydrotherapy industry that the purpose and fundamental approach for this qualification isn’t changing significantly. However there have been changes to regulatory approaches that ABC are subject to. ABC Awards have been working with industry specialists and advisorsfor these qualifications to ensure that the replaced qualifications are what is required by learners and employers and link to delivery and Trade Associations.

Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals

ABC are delighted to confirm that it will be launching a replacement, Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy, regulated qualification in the spring.

Canine Therapies will be able to continue to register learners on the current Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy until August 31st 2019. We will also have until the 31st December 2019 to ensure Learners registered on the current qualification have completed and that ABC has had sufficient time to moderate and award the Learners. All previously awarded L3 Certificates in Hydrotherapy will and will still be recognised, the qualification is simply being replaced with an updated version.

We will be attending a workshop in the New Year to help us understand the final improvements to the replaced qualification and in order for us to be able to assure our previous, current and future Learners. This approach is in order for ABC to help and support centres by providing sufficient notice and support for planning improvements to our current training as a result of the improvements to the qualification.
