Physiotherapy can have significant benefits

Animals benefit from physiotherapy in the same way that humans do. Whether recovering from an injury, illness or simply wanting to improve fitness, condition or quality of life, veterinary physiotherapy can help. Veterinary Physiotherapy utilises evidence based research and the latest advances in veterinary science to rehabilitate a range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

What will my physiotherapy session look like?

Before administering treatment, just like hydrotherapy, your dog must have an initial assessment. This covers a wide range of physical health checks including posture and confirmation, gait and movement, neurological, range of movement and muscle mass/fitness. Once your physiotherapist has developed your bespoke treatment plan here are some of the modalities you may see:

  • Massage Therapy – Massage, stretching, passive range of movement, joint mobilisation.
  • Electrotherapy – Laser, pulsed electromagnetic field, TENS, heat therapy.
  • Remedial exercises
  • Home/environmental management
